Design Philosophy

As an Artist, I am attracted to opposites: primitive and refined, ancient and modern, eastern and western. I feel that jewelry’s function today should not only be visual and symbolic but tactile. Jewelry should be both a fashion statement and an instrument for heightened physical awareness.

In my jewelry, I like to invoke an aura of indeterminate age and origin – like relics dug up from some ancient tomb. The surface markings are a visual vocabulary, which says nothing and everything. I translate into contemporary language the thoughts of ancient cultures.
